City of Columbus
We did this work for the City of Columbus, the original fixtures were done in the 1920's. There were 3 parts involved in making a successful replica. We had to make a mold that would create an accurate copy of the original. The original shades were also mold blown but those molds were long gone. Then we had to recreate the surface art work. These stencils were made to be a sandblast resist. After the surface was sandblasted we frosted the whole surface with etching cream to match the surface of the originals which were done with an acid etching process. Lastly we stained the surface (like the original) so the surface artwork would become more dimensional.
